Miranda July’s New Society
Miranda July has treated us to many different expressions of her unique vision, from movies like The Future to her debut novel, The First Bad Man, and tons of art, recordings and writings in between. Now she comes to the stage with New Society, a work that’s part play, part performance piece. The exciting thing is that July has purposely kept a lot information about the piece secret, so the night will come filled with surprises. What we do know is that she will break the fourth wall as she explores ideas of utopia and collaboration.

Juliana Huxtable and LaTasha N. Nevada Diggs
On Thursday, Juliana Huxtable and LaTasha N. Nevada Diggs will participate in an ongoing series at Artists Space exploring the effects of sound, body, technology, theatre and comedy on poetry. Fittingly, they will work with the effects of audio distortion and sampling. Huxtable is already known for incorporating her poetry into her mixes as a DJ, and the artist, model, advocate and party hostess never fails to bring a powerful perspective. Diggs is a perfect partner for Huxtable, boasting her own resume of thought-provoking poetry and interdisciplinary art.
Thursday, October 8 at 7PM, at Artists Space, 55 Walker Street.

Greater New York Opening
Back in 2000, MoMA and what was then the P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center collabed on an exhibit that brought together the most promising, exciting artists living and working in the metropolitan area. The series is back, starting this Sunday, for only the fourth time since then, and it’s considered one of the best ways to plug into the city’s wealth of emerging talent. No word yet on the lineup, but PS1 has explained that some more established artists will also be showcased this year to create more of a mix.
Sunday, October 11 to March 7, 2016, at MoMA PS1, 22-25 Jackson Avenue, Queens.
