Did you know Charlie Sheen stayed up for 48 hours straight to get that “wasted” look for his bit part as the hunk in the police station in ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’?
Well, 30 years and a lot of foreshadowing later, the seminal teen movie is as relevant as ever, and finally getting the recognition it deserves. This May, esteemed film critic Richard Roeper will host Ferris Fest, a three-day event around Chicago celebrating the stupidity and spirit of youthful rebellion.
Like Baby Broderick, save up (or make up) your sick days, so you can go catch a foul ball at Wrigley Field, ogle some Seurat at The Art Institute and join a live-recreation of the “Twist & Shout” scene on a parade float, all before the bell rings. Plus, if you’re feeling like Abe Froman, The Sausage King of Chicago, treat yourself to the $300 VIP package which includes a T-shirt, film screening, opening night party in a replica of Ferris’ life-hacked bedroom and a Q&A with Mr. & Mrs. Bueller and the “snooty” maître d’.
So channel your inner bad-boy, jack your dad’s Ferrari and high-tail it to the Windy City because (say it with me): “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
