Following a performance from home-grown artist J Hus and a perfect trap warm-up from DJ Semtex (who continues to present the finest emerging artists via his Arrival series), it wasn’t long before Thugger Thugger casually pranced onto the stage, donning the skinniest of jeans and straight into a quick fire round of a whole host of features. Here’s what we witnessed.
No dress!
We’re not going to lie, we were slyly excited about what Young Thug would arrive wearing, but he kept things pretty casual in jeans and a Patta top, we were let down to be honest.
Thugger’s man fans have got his back
Obviously the ratio of guys to girls was completely out of balance; it was basically like date night for the homies, but they were loving it. The sweat lashing off of each man in the crowd showed just how much they appreciated the dreaded drawler.
His discography is on point
Even I was surprised to know pretty much every one of the features, his discography is decent to say the least. He ended up ad-libbing his own tracks with the hype crowd more precise even than him. From older songs like Danny Glover to the recent Check and With That to radio ready reloads Lifestyle, Stoner and About The Money. All received a raucous reaction.
His DJ/hype man/dancer is cray
For a while my friend and I questioned where this random guy intermittently skanking out on stage had come from – turns out it was Young Thug’s DJ. To be fair, we know that earlier this year before the Rodeo Tour, Thugger didn’t even have a DJ – just CD’s. So it’s a work in progress, especially when everyone was waiting for Young to return to the stage, but the DJ just wanted his own 15 minutes.
His album drops next month
If you weren’t lucky enough to experience the live show then you only have to wait a few more weeks to cop the Hy!£UN35 album, which drops, fingers crossed, 24th September.
