In a move that is set delight both fans of Rihanna and Cinéma vérité filmmaking, a reveal-all Rihanna documentary is now in the works. Casting a hitherto unseen light on the notoriously shy and retiring singer, the appropriately titled Rihanna is said to be closely modelled on D.A. Pennebaker’s famous 1967 Bob Dylan doc, Dont Look Back, with director Peter Berg describing the project as an “unfiltered look into Rihanna’s life and how she’s ascended to become a global icon.”
Berg, who previously directed the star in his 2012 movie Battleship, told Deadline that the doc will be “much more a character study than a music film,” with the director hoping to examine “a young artist at the top of her professional field.” And while the filmmaker is not currently taking additional submissions for the film’s title, we’d like to take this opportunity to formally suggest: From Russian Roulette With Love, Gone in FourFiveSeconds, and We Found Love Actually. Bitch better have our popcorn.
