Anish Kapoor, Jenny Holzer and Sir Paul Smith are among the hundreds of names taking part in this year’s Secret 7″ music project. The yearly event – supported by Universal Music UK – involves the production of seven songs, reissued in 100-copy runs and designed by a whole load of visual artists. And while you’d imagine that out of 700 records one or two might end up being a bit rubbish, they’ll probably all be quite good – with Gavin Turk, Stuart Murdoch and Hattie Stewart among the other collaborators.

Exhibited at the Sonos Studio in London’s fashionable Shoreditch from 8 April to 1 May, the singles go on sale the following morning at £50 each, with the identity of the artist who designed the sleeve remaining a secret until purchase. This year’s songs are John Lennon’s Imagine, Etta James’ At Last, Max Richter’s Dream 3, Tame Impala’s The Less I Know The Better, Chvrches’ Clearest Blue, Jack Garratt’s Worry, as well as i-D favourites, The Jam, with Art School. And, while we’d have personally enjoyed Anish Kapoor covering Paint It Black, it’s all for a good cause – with profits from the sale will going to support Amnesty International’s human rights work.
