Humberto Leon and Carol Lim’s latest Opening Ceremony menswear collection pays tribute to a bygone era – a very bygone era. The spring collection name checks the great classical composers of the 18th century, from Debussy to Bach. As Opening Ceremony explained on Instagram, the collection “twists the classic band poster into something even more classical”
It’s similar to Kanye’s riff of the metal concert tees of the 80s. Collection stand-outs include Beethoven-emblazoned sweatsuits, satin two-pieces and those huge industrial trousers goths have repped’ for years. Opening Ceremony are currently fond of the classics, they’re designing costumes for The New York City Ballet’s new performances with Marques’ Almeida and Oscar de la Renta.
