When Banksy began his New York residency he used Instagram to premiere the new graffiti pieces he created, but the location was never included in the posts. This led to New Yorkers working together on a Banksy treasure hunt through social media, the found footage of which has been drawn together to create a tapestry of tweets and pictures, Banksy portraits and fraudsters. The “user-generated” documentary premieres on HBO tonight.
