Banksy’s art exhibition / gig venue / “family attraction that acknowledges inequality and impending catastrophe” Dismaland will close its doors for good tonight at 10pm. The goth Disney world played host to exhibitions featuring works by Jenny Holzer and Damien Hirst, as well as gigs by Pussy Riot, Run the Jewels, Savages, Sleaford Mods and Massive Attack. But bleak as the “bemusement” park’s focus may be, its constituent parts will go on to do good. A statement displayed on the landing page of the park’s website today reads, “All the timber and fixtures from Dismaland are being sent to the ‘jungle’ refugee camp near Calais to build shelters”. There is no further information, but the statement ends with some quintessentially twisted Banksy-style humor with the line, “No online tickets will be available.”
