The Jay-Z curated Made In America festival took over Philadelphia this past weekend, with performances from the likes of Santigold, Earl Sweatshirt, The Weeknd, and Future all streaming live to Tidal. In a standout moment, Nicki Minaj joined Meek Mill to perform All Eyes On You, but it was Beyoncé‘s performance that took the crown. Her set opened with this jaw-dropping performance of her Crazy In Love remix.
Of all the powerful moments of Bey’s set, there’s one that’s really grabbed our attention. Echoing the now-famous Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie feminism speech she sampled in Flawless, Beyoncé borrowed the words of another bold women, Ronda Rousey. The boxer’s “do-nothing bitch” monologue—which has been circulating around the web for a while—prefaced Bey’s performance of Diva. In the speech, Ronda explains “there isn’t a single muscle on my body that’s not for a purpose, ’cause I’m not a do nothing bitch.”
Here’s the audio from the festival, and if you’d like to give Ronda’s original speech a listen, here it is.
