A new photography book featuring unseen pictures of the late singer Prince is set to include a foreword written by none other than Mrs. Knowles-Carter herself: Beyoncé.
As Entertainment Weekly have reported, the book — titled Prince: A Private View — contains never-before-seen photos of the icon, who passed away last year, taken by Afshin Shahidi, a friend of Prince’s who had, over the last 10 years, become his personal cinematographer and photographer. Among the photos included, EW report, are pictures from the singer’s 3121 private parties in LA, which we’re pretty sure will be WILD.
While that would certainly be exciting enough, Prince: A Private View will also feature words about the Purple One written by Beyoncé, in which she pays homage to his legacy and the impact of his artistry on her. In her introduction she writes, “Truth be told, the word ‘icon’ only scratches the surface of what Prince was and what he remains to me.” Too true, tbh.
Beyoncé and Prince, of course, performed together in 2004 at the Grammys, an experience, she told GIANT magazine in 2012, that left her “so overwhelmed and nervous and star-struck”.
“We rehearsed every day for an hour for a week, instead of six hours the day before,” she recalled. “That was so smart, it was Prince’s idea — I guess he knows people are star-struck because he’s so amazing.” Prince would later go on to praise Beyoncé, too, calling her “so very talented”. Following his death, Beyoncé would go on to perform both Purple Rain and The Beautiful Ones during her Formation World Tour.
Prince: A Private View is set for release on 17 October.
