So much surrounding Beyoncé’s Lemonade is a family affair. The visual album features the birthday party of Jay Z’s 90-year-old grandmother Hattie White, footage of Blue Ivy, and some heartbreaking stills of the families of police brutality victims. This theme of ancestry and healing infiltrates the Formation World Tour, and at Beyoncé’s June 8 show in NYC, the family of the late Trayvon Martin got backstage treatment.
Sybrina and Jahvari Fulton, Martin’s mother and brother, attended the second night of Bey’s two-day run at Citi Field. Jahvari posted two photos to his Instagram from the event, one from the crowd, and one from backstage with the sweet caption, “Mommy & Me + Bey.” Sybrina is no stranger to sharing Beyoncé’s spotlight: she was featured during the “Forward” video along with the mothers of Eric Garner and Michael Brown.
