A good day and a bad day for Bey.

In news that’ll surprise no one, Beyoncé’s Lemonade has been certified platinum, after selling 653,000 units in its debut week. This is her sixth platinum album in a row, which is pretty incredible; and in more astonishing news, streams of the album have helped Tidal acquire 1.2 million new subscribers.

In less thrilling news, however, the artist is being sued by director Matthew Fulks, who claims the Lemonade film took elements from his piece Palinoia. The lawsuit, which has been published in full by THR, includes side by side comparisons of the two films. Beyoncé and Columbia have yet to issue a statement.

“The number of aesthetic decisions included in Plaintiff’s PALINOIA work that are parroted in Defendants’ LEMONADE trailer demonstrates that the LEMONADE trailer is substantially similar to the PALINOIA work,” claims the complaint, saying further “Both the PALINOIA work and the LEMONADE trailer are comprised of short visual and audio segments arranged in montage fashion, with certain segments recurring throughout the works.” Watch below to make your own mind up.
