Twenty four of the biggest names in pop have come together to record a song in tribute to those impacted by the horrific mass shooting in Orlando last month at the LGBTQ club Pulse. The track, titled “Hands,” was co-produced by Mark Ronson, Bloodpop, and Justin Tranter. It features Mary J Blige, Britney Spears, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, Pink, RuPaul, Troye Sivan, and Gwen Stefani amongst others.
Proceeds from the track will go towards the Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund, the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida, and GLAAD. It will help to aid families with medical care and provide counseling as well as education.
Co-producer Tranter told Billboard the idea for “Hands” came together the day after the shooting, when he left touring with Gomez to volunteer at Orlando’s local LGBT community center. “Like the rest of the world I woke up to the news that morning and was horrified and sad and scared.”
Hands is available now to purchase from iTunes.
