What’s black and white and red all over?

Brooke Candy is back with a new single, Changes, and a freaky new clip courtesy of M.A.C and esteemed fashion photographer Steven Klein, celebrating her current collection for the makeup brand.

In the film, Brooke wears dramatic makeup, with white painted skin, blood red lips, and tears of black streaming down her face. Alternately channelling the iconic look of 70s punk Soo Catwoman — with an added bionic face plate — and a demonic finger-waved flapper style, there are also hints of the Joker.

“As people, we all have a balance of darkness and light, and as an artist, it’s important for me to harness both positive and negative energy because that’s good art. Darkness can be more honest and positive than the opposite. If you can express it and be honest about it, then there’s a sense of light within that,” Brooke says in a M.A.C profile about her collection.

On Changes, Candy raps about being kicked out by her parents and living out of her car over a snare beat and xylophone melody, with a chorus by musician (and Lena Dunham’s partner) Jack Antonoff. The track is from her upcoming debut album, which is executively produced by SIA.
