It’s the time of year when we all start planning our holidays, and Riccardo Tisci is not immune to itchy January feet if today’s news that the heritage brand is off to Shanghai for its AW20 show is anything to go by.

The Autumn/Winter collection, due to be shown on Thursday 23 April, will follow a first presentation in London on Monday 17 February. It takes place as part of a “programme of activities” the fashion house has planned in China this year.

The house, which began 2020 with a “Lunar New Year” campaign — complete with an online game in honour of the Year of the Rat — will also show new looks designed specifically for the event and the Asian market.

“Doing a show in China is a first for me,” Riccardo Tisci said in a statement. “It’s a country that has always been so supportive of me and the show will be a culmination of everything the teams and I have been working towards since I first started. It will be a celebration of our collections and our new attitude in one of the most innovative and inspiring cities in the world.”

“My first years at Burberry were focused on establishing and defining my new identity for the house. Now we are ready to take this vision outside of London in new and exciting ways.”
