Byblos went big when conceiving of their latest collection. An aurora borealis became the starting point for creative director Manuel Facchini; the crystal-clear purity of the arctic ice meets the kaleidoscopic array of colours in the sky caused by particles from the sun. The result was a prismatic, utilitarian sportswear and street-friendly collection that put sustainability front and centre.
“The plastic of recycled bottles gets a second life becoming the magic ingredient to create eco-friendly pearls,” the show notes explained “which like sustainable diamonds reflect a renewed aesthetic, rooted in the consciousness and awareness of global warming.” Other elements included recycled nylon for the outwear and ergonomic constructions of puffers.
Highlights included an all-white space-friendly skirt and jacket combo complete with helmet worn by i-D cover star Jazzelle and the various different pieces made-up of fragmented glass pieces, reflecting all the colours of the arctic rainbow. “With this collection, Byblos traces a new path, define a new challenge to help saving this planet and guaranteeing a future for next generations.”
