Last week Caitlyn Jenner shared a glimpse of her experience since transitioning in a blog post, inviting the public to ‘ask her anything’, while sharing a question of her own:
“Up until now, I have totally isolated myself from the transgender community so I have a lot of catching up to do. I feel such a responsibility to this courageous group to try to get it right and tell all sides of the story. To me, that’s always the biggest question: am I doing it right?”
So many people reached out to Caitlyn that her website crashed. It’s back now, and she’s answered a number of questions submitted by the public. In her words, this is just “to get us started.” One woman reached out, not to ask a question, but to answer the personal question Caitlyn had previously posed:
Dawn R: I’m a transgender woman. I was touched by your question “Am I doing it right?” I felt an overwhelming need to respond. The best thing you can do for the rest of the trans community is to *be* Caitlin. Be who you really are. Be unashamed, honest, and brave, as you have been thus far. Be Caitlin. You’re doing a wonderful job so far, and I have every confidence you will continue to be so in the future. Trust yourself. Hold your head high, and be amazing.
Caitlyn: What a powerful message for all walks of life. Let us all trust ourselves, hold our heads up high, and be amazing.
