Donald Trump has been elected as the next president of the United States, and let’s face it, the whole world is in shock. It’s been only two days since the announcement and already mass protests have broken out on both sides of the Atlantic. Those of us not on the streets are tucked behind screens nervously asking each other “what next?”

One such figure is American model Cameron Russell, who’s taken to Twitter with an open letter to the fashion industry, calling upon friends to step up, speak out, and above all, protect all those who aren’t cis, white, American men. In other words she means: hiring, paying well, and listening to women, people with disabilities, all those who identify as non-binary, members of the LGBTQ community, and people of color.

“MAKE SURE someone on your permanent team is from a population vulnerable to president Trump,” she writes, before urging the industry not ignore the media and other political figures who will attempt to normalize Trump, in fear of markets collapsing. “Listen to the tepid language they use to describe an openly racist, sexist, incompetent human who has only seen failure in his career and been accused of sexual assault, rape, and fraud.” Galvanizing her followers, she concludes with the following war cry: “make sure you can hear people who will be better tuned to his violence…let us make sure we can hear them and follow them into battle when it matters most.” Well, lets hope people are listening.
