While holidaying at an Austrian resort in 1954, a young Gabrielle Chanel became so enthralled by the jacket worn by a hotel elevator operator, that it went on to inspire one of the most iconic items of clothing of all time. To celebrate this magical moment in Gabrielle’s life and to mark the House’s Paris-Salzburg 2014/2015 Métiers d’Art collection, which will be showcased in Salzberg next week, Monsieur Lagerfeld has enlisted the help of a few of his fabulous friends – Cara Delevingne, Pharrell Williams and Geraldine Chaplin, who reprises her role as Mademoiselle Chanel for the second time – to star in the new Chanel short, a snippet of which has just been released as a teaser. ”Reincarnation is the story of a lift attendant’s jacket being reincarnated as a timeless piece of women’s wear,” declares King Karl, himself. Cast in the imperial roles of Elisabeth and Franz Josep of Austria, the 40-second clip shows Cara and Pharrell in all their fairytale finery, waltzing along to the sweet sounds of CC The World, a song Pharrell penned exclusively for Chanel. Singing, dancing, and even acting, all eyes are firmly on Cara.
