In an interview last month, Vogue writer, Rob Haskell, suggested that Cara Delevingne’s bisexuality was nothing but a phase. “Cara says she felt confused by her sexuality as a child, and the possibility of being gay frightened her,” he wrote. “Her parents seem to think girls are just a phase for Cara, and they may be correct.” Naturally, a massive backlash ensued, not only in the press who were quick to point out its indication of society’s wider problem with bi-phobia and its supposed misunderstanding of bisexuality, but online too. A petition that called for a public apology from Vogue received 13,121 signatures. Defending the article in an interview with The New York Times, Cara, who is currently dating St Vincent singer Annie Clark, denies any maliciousness on the part of the publication, however, she does concede the following: “My sexuality is not a phase. I am who I am.” People of the world, rejoice!
