Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel shows are increasingly renowned for their elaborate productions and this year’s Metiers D’Art parade was no exception. Recreating a Parisian street in the legendary Cinecitta film studios in Rome, guests watched from cafe chairs as bee-hived, charcoal-eyed models walked past exact replicas of Metro stations and boulangeries in updated versions of Chanel classics.

i-D favourites including Catherine McNeil, Bella Hadid (in her Chanel debut), Lara Stone and Freja Beha Erichsen also graced the catwalk which closed with King Karl taking a tweed-heavy bow with his adorable young nephew Hudson Kroenig and model Baptiste Giabiconi.

The event also saw the premiere of Once and Forever, Lagerfeld’s 11-minute movie about the behind-the-scenes happenings of a fictional Coco Chanel biopic starring Kristen Stewart. That should be enough self-reflexive fashion to tide us over until the next Chanel extravaganza.
