This Wednesday, Kensington Orangery played host to the creme de la creme of the London Fashion scene as they assembled to watch an archive of Giles Deacon’s work as part of Georgian Fashion Remix, a series of events celebrating 300 years since George I came into power and spearheaded one of the most decadent and lavish in British history.
In true aristocratic fashion, there were no shortage of beauties to help model the wears. i-D cover girls Jessica Stam, Lindsey Wixson, Catherine McNeil, Daphne Groeneveld and Sigrid Agren took to the runway in Giles’ truly breathtaking creations complete with Milliner’s Stephen Jones headpieces in shapes and styles as varied as Swan to Pac Man and all put together to perfection by stylist extraordinaire Katie Grand.
With the city’s fashionistas such as M.I.A, Tallulah Harlech, Jaime Winstone and Gwendoline Christie cheering from the front row, the night acted as a glittering display of the technical skill and prowess of Deacon as well as a reminder that whilst fashion is joyously moving forward it sometimes never hurts to look back.
