Since being appointed creative director at Celine, Hedi Slimane has been consciously building hype around his direction for Spring Summer 2019 and the looming changes to come. The unveiling of a new logo, debuting his first bag on Lady Gaga’s arm and the entire Celine e-commerce store going blank has left fans the perfect mix of both confused and intrigued.
As the next step in teasing his vision for the house Hedi has forgone a simple paper show invitation, instead opting for a fourteen page art book of posters of Parisian nightlife and architecture. The designer’s aesthetic often caters to those who find energy in the after dark, so imagine fourteen pages of decadent shadowy imagery of night clubs, cafes and music venues respected (and photographed) by Slimane himself.
As for how this imagery plays into Hedi’s Celine, we’ll have to wait and see — thankfully not much longer. All will be revealed at his Paris show on September 28 at Hôtel des Invalides.
