To celebrate Chanel‘s 2016 Métiers d’Art collection, Paris In Rome, Kristen Stewart stars in not one but two new video shorts for the legendary house. In the films, Karl Lagerfeld‘s favorite actress is getting ready to leave the house. Set to the sound of “I’ll Take Care Of You” by poet Gil Scott-Heron and featuring Stewart’s oddly hypnotic, somber presence, the shorts feel like a peek into a more complex story.
In recent years, Stewart has cast aside any lingering suspicions that she’s just that girl from Twilight. And it’s hard to think of many performers who could turn checking their makeup into a cinematic outing. Embracing the classics, Stewart’s character wears a tweed skirt suit, off-the-shoulder knitwear, lace stockings, and statement earrings. And the looks are completed with a slash of dark femme fatale lipstick. It’s a change from her last appearance in a Chanel film, as a highly-strung actress preparing to play Coco herself. This latest romantic offering is Stewart’s fifth time collaborating with the brand on camera.
