A new Christian Dior exhibition is coming to London’s Victoria and Albert Museum next year. Opening in February 2019, Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams will feature over 200 haute couture garments, as well as accessories, photography, vintage perfume bottles, illustrations and Dior’s own personal possessions. It’s set to be the largest UK retrospective of the man, and his eponymous luxury house, to date.

The exhibition spans from 1947 to today and sections will explore the designer’s enduring interest in all things British, showcasing — among more than 500 objects — the dress worn by Princess Margaret for her 21st birthday. Beautifully curated, the exhibition highlights the opulence so adored by the designer.

Charting the history of Dior, the V&A will focus on the house’s six creative directors who came after Christian Dior — Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and the current creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri — who have all re-imagined the brand in their own inimitable ways. It will also shed a light on the role of the house’s exceptionally talented couturiers, who bring the haute couture designs to life.

Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams follows in the footsteps of the V&A’s incredibly successful Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty show, which pulled in audiences from all over the world. Set to be a truly special ride through one of the most significant fashion houses ever, this is one not to be missed.
