What went down at the Christian Louboutin x i-D party in Paris

Here’s everything — and everyone — you need to know about the wildest party during Paris Fashion Week.

Before it was world-renowned for its red-soled shoes and precarious spikes around the world, Christian Louboutin started life in Paris as an independent shoe designer, inspired by the fancy footwear of Parisians over the years. So, you know you’re in safe hands with them when partying in the French capital — especially when the soirée in question is co-hosted by i-D. Last Friday, we partnered with the legendary brand to throw a party during Paris Fashion Week Men’s.

Of course, tout le monde queued to get into the most buzzed-about party of the night — sorry about that! –  held at the iconic cultural hub La Gaitè Lyrique, which transformed for one night only into an immersive space resplendent with disco balls and lightning bolts.

You see, Christian Louboutin’s latest collection itself took its cues from the binary-blurring days of Glam Rock. A special performance from self-proclaimed ‘queer modern art pop’ band WALT DISCO — who also appeared in a campaign produced by i-D that was projected throughout the space — carried the torch of Bowie, Bolan et al into the present day. The gig was followed by DJ sets from Hank K and Bambounou, who kept the crowd going into the early hours. Yes, really; doors closed at 5. Considering the number of Louboutin’s towering chunky-heeled boots in attendance, that is no mean feat.

So, who was there? Monsieur Louboutin himself, Deon Hinton, Raya Martigny, Paul Forman, Arlo Parks, Asap Nast, Fiona Zanetti and i-D’s Osman Ahmed, Olivia Singer, Claire Thomson-Jonville and Dan Sablon were all there. Guests sipped on champagne (of course) and Glam Rock-inspired cocktails that had as much kick as a pair of Loubi studded loafers. This is all to say that, yes, it was a wild night. As it should be — ‘Wild’ was the name of the party, after all.
