As you’re probably well aware by now, it’s again one of the four times a year when Paris becomes even more fashion-obsessed than usual. With the city a buzz of stressed buyers and editors rushing from one blockbuster show to another, you’d almost be convinced that fashion life in the City of Light was running as smoothly as ever. You would, however, be wrong. Since the end of 2017, the chicer citizens of the French capital (and beyond) have been mourning the loss of a truly iconic institution, Colette.

Just over two years on, while the pain certainly hasn’t lessened, it’s one we’ve all learned to live with. Late last year, we reported the announcement of Colette, Mon Amour, an ode to the Rue Saint-Honoré institution’s 20-year tenure as the world’s most influential concept store. Directed by Hugues Lawson-Body, it traces its proud history through interviews with some of its highest-profile fans: Kanye, Pharrell, Virgil… you get the picture.

Now, a trailer for the film has been released, offering a sneak peek at this chronicle of French fashion retail’s proudest era. Those in Paris pendant la fashion week are urgently advised to hotfoot it to one of the (no doubt already oversubscribed) public screenings of the documentary. For those that aren’t, this snippet will have to do for now. Tant pis!
