To New York, where iconic sneaker brand, Converse, has just dropped the highly anticipated All Star Modern. Inspired by the 1920 All Star, the All Star Modern is a spanking new silhouette that combines the brand’s rich history within sport, specifically its origins in basketball, with our modern thirst for innovation and design, which parent company Nike has become known for. “The Converse All Star Modern is a perfect fusion of our sport heritage with modern design,” said Bryan Cioffi, Vice President/Creative Director of Converse Global Footwear. “With this collection, Converse is delivering a comfortable, lightweight product that’s new, exciting and modern, but still feels very Converse.”

From Ron Slater in Dazed and Confused to Marty McFly in Back to the Future, Converse have been sported by some of cinema’s most iconic characters, whether jocks, nerds, misfits, bad boys or prom princesses. Bastions of cool and steeped in nostalgia, shoes like the Chuck Taylor have a cultural cache that most brands can only dream of, so any updates must be carefully considered and artfully executed. Which is exactly what’s happened with the All Star Modern. Available in both Hi and Ox silhouettes, in its modern incarnation the All Star Modern boasts innovative features including Nike Hyperfuse, a contoured full-length Phylon outsole, a TPU-fused overlaid toecap, on top off a neoprene split tongue and lining. The result is a lightweight sneaker that’s comfortable, stylish and clean, available worldwide online and in select stores from June 16, in black, red, green, blue and white colourways.

HTM is available now exclusively at NikeLab, and the inline product will be available this Thursday from Converse.com. The HTM is £145, the inline is £90 for low and £100 for high.
