Where are you from and what do you do?
I’m originally from Wellington and I’m currently studying Education and Media Studies at Massey in Palmerston North.
Where are the coolest places to shop?
If you’re looking at buying trendy clothes then Good as Gold, Area 51 and Banks Arcade are the best places to go! But my absolute favourite place to shop in Wellington would have to be Cuba Street. There’s all these quirky little shops and vintage thrift stores. The people who hang out around there are really artistic and dynamic too. You can’t walk through Cuba Street without coming across at least a couple of buskers. Cuba Street has a really cool vibe. IKO IKO is pretty cool too, they sell the most bizarre, fascinating stuff, I love it.
Where would you take someone you love in Wellington?
The waterfront at night is really beautiful during summer time. I would take them there and then go and see a ballet at Saint James theatre followed by dessert at Strawberry Fare – their Warm raspberry drenched chocolate cake is amazing.
How would you spend a perfect day in Wellington?
Probably at Lyall Bay beach with my friends, soaking up the sun and swimming in the surf. And then lunch at a local café. As cheesy as it sounds, you really can’t beat Wellington on a sunny day.
Recommend i-D your favourite song from New Zealand at the moment?
Take a Picture by David Dallas – It’s not that recent but it’s been my all-time favourite. His music is boss.
Who’s the coolest person in New Zealand?
My little sister Chloe Scott-Hill would definitely have to be the coolest person in Wellington! She’s only 13 but she has an amazing sense of style and a carefree attitude. She also rocks a pixie cut.
What’s the best party you’ve been to in Wellington?
Definitely the rugby sevens. You can’t beat that!
What would you recommend for a tourist to do in Wellington?
The City Art Gallery is a cool place to go if you’re that way inclined. I also love the Botanical Gardens. Sometimes they have live bands or shows for free. The Saturday underground markets are also pretty rad. Oh and the Mount Victoria lookout is really beautiful. There’s also all the generic things like Te Papa and the cable car if you want to be unoriginal.
What restaurant would you take someone to if you wanted to impress them on a first date?
The Bangalore Polo Club on Courtenay Place is amazing. I definitely think my date would be impressed if I took them there.
