Last week the i-D team joined ASOS as well as an esteemed panel of judges that included our very own Julia Sarr-Jamois and ASOS buying director Nikki Tattersall at the Ace Hotel Shoreditch to announce the two winners of ASOS’ inaugural Fashion Discovery competition. Out of 600 applicants, and a shortlist of 12, designer Elissa Grainger of latex lingerie label Elissa Poppy from Hertfordshire and London-based Claire Yurika Davis’ contemporary label Hanger were named the two winners of the £50,000 grants as well as money-can’t-buy-mentoring from the business minds at ASOS as well as an edit of their collection to be sold on the website.
The winning brands scooped the top spot for the originality, commerciality, personality and entrepreneurial flair they brought to their burgeoning brands and we can’t help but agree.
