Last month, we were saddened to learn that an “urgent health issue” caused DIIV to cancel the remaining dates on its European tour. But yesterday evening, frontman Zachary Cole Smith took to Instagram to announce that the Brooklyn-based band will embark on a string of US dates next month, and they’ll be accompanied by The Paranoyds — the lo-fi LA garage rock outfit fronted by fellow Saint Laurent model-slash-musical-muse Staz Lindes.
Though The Paranoyds often gig around their native Southern California (just last month they played LA’s Echo nightclub with former DIIV tourmates, neo psych rock wunderkinds Sunflower Bean), it’s very rare to catch them live on the East Coast.
The Paranoyds will play all of DIIV’s upcoming tour shows except for the Houston and Toronto dates on May 29 and June 5, respectively. Check where and when you can catch DIIV and The Paranoyds here.
For now, get psyched for the dream double feature by pressing play on DIIV’s acoustic cover of Cat Power’s “Nude as the News” and The Paranoyds’ brand new single “Heather D,” released via Hard Feelings Records earlier this week.
