Savages — probably the coolest post-punk band in the world right now — have just released The Answer, a brand new track and fan-filled video. Shot just a week ago, the film captures an intense mosh pit at a gig in Lisbon’s Village Underground, an offshoot of the London version that is housed in a series of shipping containers stacked on top of each other to form a venue on the outskirts of the Portuguese capital.
The Answer is our first glimpse of Savages’ second album, Adore Life, the hotly-anticipated follow-up to their breakthrough 2013 debut Silence Yourself. The release comes with a suitably intense statement of intent / rallying cry from Jehnny Beth and the band:
“It’s about change and the power to change. It’s about metamorphosis and evolution. It’s about sticking to your guns and toughing it out. It’s about now, not tomorrow. It’s about recognising your potential. It’s about self-doubt and inaction. It’s about you. It’s about me. It’s about you and me and the others. It’s about the choices we make.
