The Fader is reporting that Dr. Dre, an executive producer of Straight Outta Compton, is digging deeper into the dramatic world with a new TV show called Vital Signs with Apple, which he will also executive produce.
A bit late to the show-production game, Apple joins Netflix and Amazon in the content-providing realm (and we’re pretty certain they’ll excel at it).
The semi-autobiographical show is about the life of Dre (née Andre Jones), who was the musical genius behind N.W.A.’s masterpiece Straight Outta Compton (the album). Vital Signs is not a comedy, rather a sex-and-violence-filled noir drama that shows the main character going through six different emotions — one for each episode of the first run.
Last week, indeed, there was a scene that included a protracted orgy. It sounds like Dre has lived a life worthy of a show.
