Go with Angus Gruzman on a journey through an alternate sonic universe that nobody else could construct.

Dreems is the solo project of Sydney DJ Angus Gruzman – a man who can fairly claim responsibility for inspiring kids towards the dance floor for over a decade. As Gus Da Hoodrat, he was a long-serving member of the Bang Gang party crew and he’s ensuring the good times continue with his involvement in the Motorik label and the regular parties they throw.

His mix for i-D is the kind of journey that only someone with an impressively eclectic record collection could take you on. Angus describes it as a “mix that was made with a certain rug in mind (it knows who it is). There was no more than a chair and a packet of empty crisps on the rug that I was playing to that evening. It’s an intimate mix formulated in my mind for the open space of your mind. It’s 100% vinyl, 100% vibe and 100% me on the Persian rugs.”

Rug up and listen in.

Music to shift your mood from staying in to staying up all night…
Primal Scream, Loaded. The mission statement for any good night.

Music for fiery arguments and emotional goodbyes…
Some Jungle or Drum n Bass. Just to offset the mood.

Music to kiss and make up to…
Arthur Russell, Arm Around You

Music to heal a broken heart…
The only thing that can mend a broken heart is time….Ok, so maybe Pink Floyd, Time.

Music to get high to…
Cypress Hill has always worked a treat for me.

Music to change your night from mediocre to magnificent…
SM Corporation, Fire From Above

Music to take a long drive to…
Optimo, Walkabout mix

Music to walk down the aisle to…
New Order, Thieves Like Us

Music you’d like played at your funeral…
Michael Mayer, Baumhaus. It’s the right amount of happiness and sadness trapped in a jungle that has been set free. They better bring some killer subs to stash under the coffin though, I want to feel that bass 6 feet under when it rolls into town.

Music to have sex to…
Connan Mockasin, Caramel. Tried, tested, and approved.

Music to celebrate your birthday to…
M. Ashraf & Nahid Akhtar, Too Hai Phool Main Dali. If anyone’s taking notes, I ain’t a fan of that b’day song everyone’s been peddling since memory was memory. Let’s switch it up.

Music guaranteed to give you serious swagger…
Perry Como, Magic Moments. Basically anything Perry Como ought to bring out da truest gangsta in you.

Music to make even the wallflowers dance…
Aly-Us, Follow Me. Because “we should all be free…” even the wallflowers.

Music to play at the afterparty when it’s 6am and the sun is beginning to rise…
Peaking Lights, Beautiful Son or The Beach Boys, Sloop John B. Each side of the moment covered.

Music that could put even an insomniac to sleep…
William Basinski, Melancholia
