When Alessandro Sartori parted ways with Berluti, Brendan Mullane moved from Brioni, and Stefano Pilati revealed his three years at Zegna had come to an end, it meant that three more fashion houses were without a creative chief. In the days that followed, rumors swirled as the industry guessed who would move where. Today, it’s been revealed that one of the loudest whispers had some substance. In Alessandro Sartori, Ermenegildo Zegna has its new artistic director. “I’ve known Alessandro and his style for many years and I am extremely excited to welcome him back to our Group,” Gildo Zegna comments in a statement. “His talent, creativity, passion, and modernity make him the perfect fit to help us take Zegna to the next phase of its development.”
Having spent eight years at the creative helm of Z Zegna, this newly-created position of artistic director of the family-run Italian luxury giant feels tailor-made for Sartori. It’s both a homecoming and new beginning. “I want to thank Gildo and the whole Zegna family for this fantastic opportunity. I grew up watching and admiring their creations and their authentic and deep values, and I am extremely excited to write with the whole Zegna team the next chapter,” Sartori explains.
As Alessandro Sartori takes his seat, who’s next to claim their prize in the latest game of creative-director musical chairs?
