eva green’s campari calendar is red hot

Campari is red, violets are blue, Eva Green is beautiful, oh yes it is true! Following in the fabulous footsteps of Penélope Cruz, Milla Jovovich, and Uma Thurman, Eva Green is the latest femme fatale to sizzle in the red hot colours of Campari, on the…

There are only 9999 copies in the world, and none of them are for sale! Shot by dreamy photographer Julia Fullerton-Batten, Eva takes on the role of twelve different characters, travelling through time as she works her way through the great history of Campari, whilst celebrating twelve of its most iconic cocktails. Old Pal for August? Why not? Negroni for January? See you there! To celebrate the launch of what must be the most glamorous calendar ever, we caught up with the French screen siren herself. Here Eva shares her thoughts on…

    Campari
“It’s so classic. And it’s quite funny, because my mum has always been a big fan of Campari; she would always have a Negroni cocktail in the afternoon. So it’s quite nostalgic for me. It reminds me of my mother.”

    Playing the different characters
“I played lots of different characters which was fun. It was like a holiday! I didn’t have to do any homework or learn any lines.”

    Working with Julia Fullerton-Batten
“Julia is absolutely amazing. We were surrounded by so many passionate and kind people. There was no pressure, which is very rare on a commercial job. There was lots of joy; it was very contagious.”

    Her favourite calendar photo
“They are all so cool! There are some where it’s very feminine. I love the Negroni one, actually. The one where I’m wearing the Vivienne Westwood dress, like a courtesan, it’s very romantic.”

    Being an astronaut
“But I also love the one where I’m in the astronaut outfit. It’s really boyish and really cool. I’m going to have it framed in my flat, actually.”

    Boxing
“The boxing was very cool. Julia just let me go with it.”

Bringing her own stylist to the shoot
“I had to feel comfortable in the clothes that I was wearing. Otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to be natural.”

Being shy (despite what you might think)
“I’m actually quite a shy person. But when I’m playing a character it’s a totally different thing. It’s a weird job. When I was school I would never speak in front of people, and here I am now. I always get nervous, but I’m a tiny bit more confident now… maybe. I’ve definitely grown in confidence with age.”

Slipping into her birthday suit on set
“I get numb in some way, I actually forget that I’m naked – and I do not like being naked! It’s kind of weird I get so much into the character and so passionate that I forget. But I never do nude scenes if they are gratuitous.”

    Being an old lady
“I’m quite boring actually, I love London because of the parks, I love walking and nice restaurants – St John’s is my favourite restaurant ever. But, I’m not a party girl; I’m like an old lady. If I have an aperitif, I’ll have it at home.”

    LALA land
“I’ve been living in London for eight or nine years now. I think I’d die in Hollywood, I cant drive…”

Going back to her theatrical roots
“I would love to go back on to stage. In a small theatre, like Ibsen, I would love that. It’s quite scary to be on stage, it’s another process. It’s scary but amazing because you feel the electricity with the audience. It’s immediate and magical. But scary.”
