Back in April, the British Fashion Council announced that it would be moving London Fashion Week from its grand old home at Somerset House on the banks of the River Thames to a new location: the Brewer Street Car Park building in Soho, with a series of public events in nearby Golden Square.
Ahead of the spring/summer 16 shows, which run from 18 – 22 September, the BFC have exclusively revealed a teaser video on i-D.co about the Soho area, with a spoken word voice over from poet Harry Baker. From tattoo parlours to sex shops, jazz clubs to theatres, the biggest gay village in London, record stores, vintage treasure troves and dive bars — as Baker says, “People that do the weird things: we are Soho”.
The film is released a day after the BFC’s announcement of a series of public events to complement the cloistered catwalk schedule. From an outdoor cinema showing fashion films to live streamed runway shows and a talk series featuring Peter Pilotto and Zandra Rhodes, this season, Fashion Week — like Soho — really will offer something for everyone.
