The new week is here and with it comes the chance to delve deep into some fresh culture and fashion. Here’s your latest look at the i-D Guide.
Wear… YMC x Worms charity tee
Do you know what? There isn’t enough glow-in-the-dark clothing out there. YMC are changing that though, with their new collaboration with the seriously good independent literary magazine, Worms, founded by CSM grad Clem MacLeod. To mark the release of Worms 8 aka “The Elements Issue” – with reflections on gardening and colonialism, plus essays on grief, social mobility and more – the two have come together to make a T-shirt featuring a stunning Eric Hesselbo-designed glow-in-the-dark glow worm. Better still, 10% of all proceeds go to UK charity Give A Book, who work with prisons and disadvantaged communities to promote reading. Grab a T-shirt, follow Worms and buy their new issue here.
Buy… new Frank Ocean merch
Frank fans gather round: new merch just dropped. Not only is there a Blonde vinyl rerelease just in time for Christmas (complete with a foldout Kendall Roy poster for your bedroom wall), there’s an apparel collection to go with it! Run don’t walk to secure your Blonded Radio logo tee, plus NYC monument adorned football shorts in a whole rainbow’s worth of colours. Treat yourself here.
Listen to… Max Richter’s sample library
Whether you’re a longtime admirer of composer Max Richter’s work or you discovered his heart-wrenching melodies in the Bill and Frank episode of The Last Of Us (TikTok users are calling “On The Nature Of Daylight” a “cheat code” for making viewers cry), it’s safe to say he’s one of the most influential composers in contemporary music. Turns out he’s generous too, offering up use of his personal instrument collection to all you music makers out there via a new digital sample library, SRM Sounds. Max has kicked things off with his infamous Steinway grand piano, the centrepiece of Studio Richter Mahr at which he writes, rehearses and records much of his work. SRM Sounds #001 – Max Richter Piano is available here.
Watch… Monica
Starring actor Trace Lysette in the titular role, this moving family drama about a trans woman estranged from her family returning home to care for her ailing mother is being billed as a worthy Oscar outlier. Having been released back in May in the US, it opens in UK cinemas on 15 December.
Go to… the CIRCA SCREEN-GRAB by SLAWN
The rebellious artist SLAWN is making a major mark on the art scene with this inventive, illusory piece that sees him spray paint some of the major billboard locations across the globe. Every night from now until 31 December at 20:23 local time, the piece will grace screens across Lagos, Milan, Berlin, Seoul, Los Angeles and in London, where it’ll take over the iconic Piccadilly Circus.
