First it was Nigel Cabourn; now Fred Perry opens up on Henrietta Street, just off the plaza in Covent Garden. The developer Capco is keen to turn the street into a menswear destination following its rebranding of nearby King Street. As well as offering all the current menswear collections, the store showcases the brand’s historical involvement in musical subcultures with its vintage polos covered in Northern Soul badges and a restored Wurlitzer Lyric jukebox. The basement will be a revolving gallery and events space and is currently hosting the “For The Record” exhibition of cover art and design from Acid Jazz to Bella Union and Rough Trade.
