Russian designer, photographer and Rei Kawakubo protege, Gosha Rubchinskiy has renewed his collaboration with legendary skate brand Vans for another season, turning his talents to the ultimate skate shoe, the Sk8 Hi.
Rubchinskiy reconfigures and recontextualizes the classic American silhouette with his trademark visual aesthetic of post-Soviet youth culture. The exposed stitch work on the shoes also featured in his recent spring/summer 16 collection’s 90s techno green stitching.
The new Vans follow closely on the heels of Gosha’s collaboration with Russian artist Timur Novikov, which along with his fall/winter 15, sold out pretty much instantly online. These are sure to do the same.
