Each new year brings with it hundreds of articles highlighting the people who will matter in the next 12 months, but few of these roundups are taken as seriously as Forbes‘ annual 30 Under 30 list. This year, the ‘Art and Style’ and ‘Music’ categories are packed full of i-D faves.
C-Pop star and subject of a recent i-D documentary, GEM leads up the music category alongside the eclectic mix of pop chart topper Selena Gomez and synth pop goddess Grimes. Fetty Wap, Alexander Wang’s latest collaborator The Weeknd, Schoolboy Q and Rae Sremmurd also get nods, repping the most exciting sounds in hip-hop right now.
In the Art and Style categories, a host of i-D’s fave artists received recognition: Amalia Ulman, Athena Papadopoulos, Petra Cortright and Ryder Ripps were all selected, proving that post-internet art is here to stay. Photographers Olivia Bee and Sophie Elgort also made the list, alongside plus size model Ashley Graham, and bright lights of New York’s rejuvenated fashion scene, Eckhaus Latta and Ximon Lee.
