It was all the way back in May when Grimes took to Instagram and teased fans with a working tracklist for a new album, the follow up to 2015’s Art Angels. Well, after a long six months of that trail going cold, the singer returned to Instagram today to share new merch and announce new music is coming this week. That’s right, this week. November 29 to be exact.
Besides getting excited about new Grimes music, the launch of the new merch is equally as enticing. Designed by the artist herself, the merch features artwork that fuses sci-fi, fantasy, fairies, and ‘Grimes’ written in Cyrillic lettering. You could suggest that the space/sci-fi influence could have been inspired by her relationship with Elon Musk, but we all know sci-fi has long held a place in Grimes’ heart long before Elon showed up.
No stranger to doing it herself, this isn’t the first time that Grimes has created all of her own output. She wrote and produced Art Angels herself, drew the album cover and self-directed the seven music videos that would come from the album. Given the new merch range was designed by the multi-talented artist, it looks like we could be in for a uniquely Grimes vision when it comes to new music this time around too.
