If you know what’s good for you, you should have spent the past few nights tuned into Guccifest: Alessandro Michele and Gus Van Sant’s cinematic link-up that has watched their shared protagonist Silvia (that’s the enigmatic Silvia Calderoni) go about her day: at home, in the cafe and, tonight, heading to the post office. What’s more, this well-dressed cast of characters just gained a new member: yep, Gucci’s go-to boy Harry Styles made his appearance in tonight’s film.
The film, the third in the seven-part series that runs till Sunday, sees Silvia and the other meandering stars of the series queuing at the post office, dressed in full Gucci regalia. Some are looking to post letters abroad, Silvia in particular is looking for a pretty, floral stamp. There’s an older gentleman — Italian art critic Achille Bonito Oliva — on the phone to a younger one, a boy we’re led to believe may be his son or grandson. Yep, that’s Harry Styles.
Together, they converse about art, division and what drives us to create, in a hallucinatory conversation that sticks with the spirit of the films Gus and Alessandro have made together. This world they’ve created, beautifully lensed by Christopher Doyle, the man responsible for Wong Kar-wai’s gorgeous movies, and styled with the new collection from Gucci themselves, is a fantastical one that those obsessed with fashion or cinema alike can indulge in. If you like what you see here, be sure to rewatch the past episodes one and two here. Be sure to stick around to see more episodes too, featuring appearances from Billie Eilish and Florence Welch before the week is out.
