London illustrator and ceramicist Charlotte Mei makes funny art that, while having a little play with popular culture, is simultaneously very beautiful. Peruse her creations and you’ll find everything from soup bowls decorated with koi carp, to painted t-shirts, BRB gravestone caps and her own DIY take on the ever-iconic Sports Direct mug. Always busy with her series of workshops and art classes, the Camberwell grad is currently popping up at Shoreditch’s Boxpark and will tonight, Thursday 6th August from 6-9pm, host the private view of her first solo exhibition, HAVE FUN. Showcasing brand new paintings, ceramics and textiles, it’ll be worth the tube strike’s alternative transport negotiations. And because every good party needs a soundtrack, tonight’s music will provided by Bo En and Jackdansu on the decks, as well as a super special cyber-set from Charlotte’s regular collaborator, Ryan Hemsworth, who just released this lovely new track…. HAVE FUN!
PS. The artist has made a formal request that attendees bring dogs to the event. Treats will be supplied for guests of all species.
