It’s Friday! You made it through a full five days of enforced quarantine and you deserve to blow off steam. No, we’re not suggesting you break social distancing rules and invite your friends over, but there’s nothing stopping you from cracking open a bottle of wine and getting your solo party on. While you warm up for your daily dose of Club Quarantine (other queer zoom parties are available) stick on this mix from producer duo Healthy Boys (no symptoms yet apparently) and cheer yourself up.
The Norwegian-British duo — consisting of Kristian Stockhaus and James Jacob — met at a songwriting camp in Bergen a couple of years ago and bonded over a shared love of heavy metal. Collaboration ensued and their debut single “Muscles”, a sweaty techno track, was released on Norway label KRÜX last year was soon followed up by the rather apt “Can’t Deal With This Right Now”. With a thing for DIY aesthetics, late nineties electroclash and bit-crushed 909s, the pair are intent on making techno weird.
‘Living in different countries means we stay in touch through video calls,” Healthy Boys tell us. “We’re using Houseparty a lot at the moment and want people to soundtrack their own quarantine house parties with our mix.” Filled with dusty Chicago acid house, jackin’ house and industrial stompers, it features tracks from the likes of Felix Da Housecat, Marie Davidson and Fjaak.
