hillary clinton is down with one direction

The Presidential candidate continues to court the youth vote by shouting out the tween heart-throbs on Twitter.

Based on her post-Y2K playlist picks and yaaaas-worthy campaign merch offering, it’s apparent that Hillary Clinton is trying to lock up the youth vote early in the race. It’s not like people under 25 are seriously considering Mike Huckabee–evangelical denouncer of dancing, Beyonce, and just about everything else— but it’s one of the demographics that boosted Obama over the former First Lady back in 08, so we feel her.

Yesterday, the Presidential candidate gave a Twitter shout out to global pop sensations One Direction, who two days ago launched a new activist campaign Action/1D. Ahead of two major global summits later this year, the four-piece outfit are encouraging their immense legion of tween followers to make their voices heard and “call on world leaders to make the right decisions for all of our futures.”

Enter Clinton, a pretty important world leader. Although she’s arguably aiming a little too young with this alignment (it’ll be a little while before most 1D fans are of voting age,) it’s still pretty rad to see the Democratic party front runner communicate with young people about issues they actually care about.

But pressing questions still remain: is Hillary team Harry or Liam? And will Bill be landing a sax solo on the group’s new record? Stay tuned.
