Kahlil Joseph, the director behind FKA Twigs, Flying Lotus, and Kendrick Lamar‘s best music videos has teamed up with Canadian indie band Arcade Fire to create a feature length film. The Reflektor Tapes weaves recording session and live performance footage with home video tapes, interviews and documentary recording to capture the process of creating the band’s last album, Reflektor.
The film follows the band writing in Jamaica and recording in Montreal and Haiti, during Carnival season, as well as at live gigs in London and LA. “Our inclination is to tell stories,” says multi-instrumentalist and singer Régine Chassagne in the trailer, which jumps from beach scenes to acoustic jam sessions, club gigs, backstage areas and dressing rooms. The Reflektor Tapes will premier in September for a limited run. In the meantime, check out the Kahlil Joseph-directed video for Porno, below.
