Netflix’s latest documentary, Hot Girls Wanted, delves into the dark underworld of the amateur porn industry and follows the lives of five young women aged 18-21 – or “teeny boppers” as one agent calls them – as they get sucked into the sex trade. Directed by Jill Bauer and Ronna Gradus (and executive produced by Rashida Jones) the film was a Sundance hit this year, even scoring a nomination for the Grand Jury Prize.
The weird thing is – it’s not a spiraling, damaging descent into the industry made by girls from broken homes. To the internet generation in their late teens and early 20s, the porn industry is losing its stigma. Even when they know it’s a trap, girls willingly enter into it. Where they end up is another thing altogether.
The new trailer includes shocking statistics such as, “The top 4 amateur porn sites average over 41 million hits per month,” and suggests the shelf life of an amateur porn actress is one year – tops. Check it out below.
