    i-d january mixtape 2015

Having only just recovered from New Years Eve, we somehow find ourselves at the start of February. They say that time flies when you're dancing, or having fun (or something like that), and in January our feet couldn't stop moving to this music.

As it sneakily slipped past us, we reflect on the sounds of January. This month’s mixtape sees Sia’s Elastic Heart sit alongside the latest addition to the Ninja Tune roster, Seven Davis Jr. Mark Ronson’s uptown funk received a dubbed down rework by the one and only Benji B, kicking off the mixtape in fine style. Yeezy returned with one of the most unexpected collaborations since, well, ever and Eddie Murphy dropped a reggae banger out of the blue. New vibes also came from Kaytranda teaming up with The Internet and Vic Mensa on two absolute fireballs! More magic comes from Marika Hackman, Sango, TALA, Gengahr, Denai Moore, Raury, Doldrums, Brenmar and IAMNOBODI. Get lost in i-D’s carefully selected cacophony of sound.

January’s mixtape artwork comes from our favourite new illustrator, Nina Cosford. Having worked her colourful magic on murals, advertising, graphic novels, pop-up books, colouring books, packaging, magazines and even in films, she recently blew our Lena Dunham-obsessed minds with Girls Illustrated. Taking scenes from your favourite TV show, Nina sketches Hannah, Marnie, Shosh and Jessa, capturing their best moments on paper forever. Now turning her hand to i-D’s monthly mixtape artwork, we highly recommend that you get to know Nina.
