Rebekah is fast becoming one of the most recognised names in the world of techno. With a sound that lies deep in the depths of the genre, unrelenting and fierce, her 4×4 tear out style has seen her lay it down at some of the most recognised clubs across the world. In fact, name pretty much any club in the world and it’s more than likely Rebekah’s played it.
Having dropped tunes for the likes of Naked Lunch, Cult Figures, CLR and Stolen Moments, with DJs such as Chris Liebing, Alan Fitzpatrick, Perc, Sandwell District, Truncate among many more, supporting them, Rebekah is one to watch.
Launching her own imprint Rebekah’s Decoy Records gave Rebekah a platform to host to new music from herself and other talent she has been supporting. Next up for her was the lashing Elements EP on her imprint of the same name. Most recently was her new Elements event series that launched in Birmingham earlier this year, which serves as a showcase for Rebekah and host of her esteemed techno peers. Look out for more Elements happenings coming later in the year.

What are the top three tracks getting heavy rotation in your sets?

What’s the most hedonistic party you’ve ever been to?
Only one place and that’s Berghain on a Sunday night, if you can actually get on the dance floor that is! All the rumours are true, I have seen some pretty special stuff take place inside, but with the beauty of the no camera policy, luckily it stays inside. It also helps me imagine how those early techno parties in New York would of been like with the club kids.
What’s the most phenomenal clubbing venue in the world and why?
As above question states, Berghain as a clubbing experience is really number one. The building itself is beautiful, the first time you go you have butterflies and a little anxiety of whether you will get in or not which adds to the experience. The sound is so good there it’s perfect to experience techno, I still get goosebumps and can be quite overwhelmed.
History is made at night… What was the best night of your life?
Sometime in the mid 90s listening to Dave Clarke DJ at the Que Club in Birmingham, one of his legendary sets and one of my early experiences of techno, pure excitement and in the flow with the music. He would have this trick of playing very up and down and get you to a point of craziness, and then just drop the music down again and you would be like “he’s going to bring it back again….” and by the time you realised he’s not, he is already building back up again. A true DJ master.
If you could go back to back with any DJ, at any venue, who would it be and why?
As mentioned above, Dave Clarke is one of my all time heroes so it would be an absolutely amazing experience to go back to back with him, and yes at the Que Club for an Atomic Jam in Birmingham! The atmosphere at this venue is electric and not many clubs can touch that, so would have to be my first choice.
What’s the most debauched thing you’ve ever seen on the dance floor?
Naming no names, but I witnessed a man pleasuring himself above the crowd from the lighting booth. Being straight headed was kind of interesting as most people didn’t realise it was happening as they were lost in the music. I’m definitely a people watcher in clubs, but that was one for the books!
What would your dream rider consist of?
Fresh coffee and a vegan buffet. I like to eat….a lot, but healthy! I can imagine when I’m an OAP that I will be hosting vegan tea dances. This will be my final ambition, bringing the elderly together for some techno, tea and exercise.
What does your actual rider consist of?
Xone 92 and lots of space for my set up, red bull, water, apple juice and fruit and nuts, not very rock ‘n roll, I’m afraid.
What’s your favourite party anthem of all time?
Joey Beltram, Energy Flash. One of the first techno tracks I heard, it’s completely timeless.
What producer are you predicting big things from this year?
Dax J, he’s already on the way but he is bringing back the rave in techno and after years of dark, deep, chill techno (!!!) it’s much needed. They don’t call it a party without reason.
Where do you go when the record ends and the lights come on?
Back to reality.
What track would you end the night on when everyone’s still awake and its time to go to sleep?
Adam Beyer, Just a Memory. A really stunning track, brings the tempo down but is super melancholy.
What’s your party trick?
I can stay up for a long, long time… without the usual “party tricks”.
